Southwest Annex features a diverse mix of single detached homes and duplexes, mostly built before 1960, with many offering one and two bedrooms. Convenient access to the John T Knox Freeway makes traveling by car smooth and efficient, while several nearby bus lines provide public transit options. The neighborhood boasts a wealth of nearby parks and green spaces, easily accessible from most locations, contributing to a serene atmosphere. Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Southwest Annex. It is very easy to access green spaces from a large number of locations within the neighborhood, since there are about 20 of them close by for residents to relax in and most properties have a park around the corner. As there are few pedestrians, this part of Richmond remains relatively quiet; however there can be higher levels of noise for those who are closer to one of the railway lines or John T Knox Freeway.
